Silicon Lagoon
1st exhibition: Sony Center, Berlin, 2000.
A scaled-down version of the Multiple Machine Matrix. 32 small percussion instruments (motorised nutshells, pinball machine solenoids, turkish finger cymbals, automated drums) and 6 amplified piano strings, form an ensemble that is played by predetermined midi sequences. The viewer, standing underneath the suspended instuments, activates the playback of different sequences by pressing keys on a midi keyboard.
