Silicon Lagoon
1st exhibition: Sony Center, Berlin, 2000.
Thirty-two small percussion instruments — motorized nutshells, pinball machine solenoids, Turkish finger cymbals, automated drums — and six amplified piano strings form an ensemble that is played by midi sequences. The viewer, standing underneath the suspended instruments, activates the playback of midi note sequences by pressing keys on a midi keyboard.
